POWER-SAVING DEVICE
Stator fin, an energy-saving device applicable to a high-speed slender ship, is installed to the rudder behind of the propeller for recovering the rotational energy loss of the propeller. The stator fin was designed for a car carriers and evaluation was carried out using theoretical calculations and model tests. The stator fin is installed on car carriers built by MHI (Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd.). Its application to the ships equipped with higher-power main engines, such as container ships, etc.
Stator fin in installed on two SIEM ships – no “Siem Curie” and “Siem Copernicus”
