Shipping business is strongly related to marine environment and may pose significant risk of sea pollution. At the same time changing climate conditions may affect our business in a negative way. Therefore, it is the SIEM Ship Management policy to provide quality services and at the same time minimize risks that could harm the environment by preventing pollution, preserving resources and improving energy efficiency.
We commit ourselves to:
- continual improvement of our Integrated Management System;
- assuring compliance with all legal requirements related to our environmental aspects, energy efficiency, energy use and energy consumption;
- setting and achieving environmental and energy objectives;
- ensuring environmental and energy efficiency awareness among staff;
- using environment and energy efficiency related criteria in our procurement procedures, including designing of vessels and equipment whenever possible;
- reducing the consumption of fuel and oil by maintaining the main and auxiliary engines on our ships in good working condition and in accordance with manufacturer instructions;
- eliminating all water, oil, air and steam leaks from our ships by proper maintenance and testing of the equipment;
- reduce atmospheric emissions from our ships by following the requirements of MARPOL VI when installing new machinery.
