The operation of LNG powered ships is connected with carrying out proper training of the crew. One of this type of training is training on safe handling and LNG bunkering of ships. Siem Ship Management provided this type of training for its crews at the Training Center of the Gdynia Maritime School. 

 

 

 

  1. IGF Basic Training for operation of Gas fueled ship  – The Aim of this course is to meet the mandatory minimum standard of competence for seafarers responsible for designated safety duties associated with the care, use or in emergency response to the fuel on board ships subject to the International Code of Safety for Ships using Gases or other Low-flashpoint Fuels (IGF Code) specified in table A-V/3-1 of the STCW Code.
  2. IGF Advanced Training for operation of LNG fueled ships – This course provides training for Masters, engineers and all personnel with immediate responsibility for the care and use of fuels and fuel systems on ships subject to the IGF code. The course comprises an advanced training programme appropriate to the trainee’s duties on board ships subject to the IGF code. The course takes full account of Section A-V/3, paragraph 2 of the STCW Code and IMO Model Course 7.14.
